Northwest Regional Corrections Center Role

Northwest Regional Corrections Center, often shortened to NWRCC, is operated by Tri-County Community Corrections. It is a regional Class III jail facility in Crookston, Minnesota. Red Lake County does not run a separate county jail for public custody routing. The sheriff's FAQ directs prisoner, prisoner transfer, and prisoner visitation questions to NWRCC at 218-470-8100, option 3. That makes NWRCC the practical jail facility for Red Lake County arrestees who need secure custody.

The facility serves Norman, Polk, and Red Lake Counties. The roster also can show people held under contract with the State of Minnesota, warrants or holds from other jurisdictions, and immigration-related holds while the person remains in local custody. This regional role matters because a name on the NWRCC roster is not automatically a Red Lake County case. The roster confirms current NWRCC custody. The court file, arrest agency, and county of prosecution may require separate confirmation.

Northwest Regional Corrections Center Capacity

NWRCC is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Corrections to house up to 200 inmates. Its public facility description lists three 60-bed housing units named Alpha, Beta, and Delta/Omega, plus a Sigma special management unit. The jail uses direct supervision, a model where staff are positioned to manage behavior and daily activity more directly than in a remote-control housing design.

The 92-row roster count comes from the public PDF printed on June 18, 2026, at 7:38:38 a.m. It should not be treated as a Red Lake County-only population count or an official average daily population. It includes the regional roster scope published by TCCC, and the research did not locate a current official Red Lake County-only jail population figure.

Northwest Regional Corrections Center Lookup

The correct inmate lookup path for NWRCC is the TCCC Local Inmate Roster page. The page links to a current PDF roster and says it is updated each Monday through Friday morning. It is not an interactive database. There is no jail search box, facility filter, booking-number field, county field, or profile page.

1. Open the TCCC Local Inmate Roster page and select the current roster PDF.
2. Use the PDF find tool to search by last name. The roster is alphabetized by last name.
3. Check first name, date of birth, incarceration date, photo, and controlling charge to avoid a false match.
4. Call 218-470-8100, option 3, or the sergeant's office if the person is newly booked, transferred, or not shown.
5. Use MNDOC, BOP, or ICE only when the person has moved into state prison, federal custody, or immigration detention.

The roster row can show a photo, incarceration date, date of birth, and controlling charge. It does not show bond, housing unit, court date, full charge list, release history, arresting agency, or the county of prosecution in a clean field. Northwest Regional Corrections Center Contact

Because NWRCC is the regional jail, visitors and families should contact the Crookston facility for custody, transfer, visit, money, property, and jail-record questions. The Red Lake County Sheriff's Office may be relevant for sheriff-created law-enforcement records before jail transfer, but jail operations are handled by Tri-County Community Corrections.

Northwest Regional Corrections Center Visits

Visits at NWRCC use Securus Video Visitation. All on-site and off-site visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Visitors create a free Securus account, submit a picture and government photo ID for facility approval, and follow check-in rules. The facility checks visitors for warrants and no-contact orders. Visits can be denied or stopped for security issues, contraband, intoxication, prohibited conduct, or lockdowns.

The schedule is exact enough that visitors should confirm approval before leaving for Crookston, especially in winter or when a lockdown may affect times.

Northwest Regional Corrections Center Money

NWRCC money, property, and contact rules are more specific than the public roster. Money can be deposited at the lobby kiosk, by mailed money order, or online through InmateCanteen by selecting Tri County Community Corrections. Personal checks are not accepted. Property is limited. Work release and STS participants may have up to three changes of clothing in the work release or STS locker. Other property requires on-duty sergeant approval if it is medically necessary or tied to a special need. Property is not released without inmate permission, and released-inmate property is disposed of 90 days after release.

Northwest Regional Corrections Center Intake

Intake at NWRCC can include identification, property processing, medical and mental-health screening, booking photo, fingerprints when required, classification, and housing assignment. The inmate handbook is provided on admission and covers rules, regulations, and information relevant during confinement. Classification also matters for services such as tablet access, housing, and participation in programs.

Self-surrender rules are local. If a court sets a jail report date at sentencing, NWRCC expects the person to report on time. If no report date was set, the facility FAQ says to contact a Corrections Sergeant to arrange self-surrender. Jail staff cannot change a court report date. Counsel or the sentencing judge must be involved if an extension is needed.

For court dates, NWRCC directs people to Court Administration for the county where the inmate will appear. That separates jail custody from court records. A Red Lake County defendant may be housed at NWRCC while the case proceeds in Red Lake County District Court.

Northwest Regional Corrections Center Programs

NWRCC lists rehabilitative programming as part of day-to-day operations. Program options can vary by time of year, staffing, and volunteer availability. Listed categories include Adult Basic Education, anger management, coping skills, Decision Points, domestic violence education, financial literacy, healthy relationships, substance-abuse support, and other seasonal or volunteer-supported options.

Adult Basic Education includes GED preparation and testing, basic literacy, computer skills, employability skills, transitions to post-secondary skills, and individual-needs classes. Classes occur on weekdays, including two evenings for people who are not in the facility during the day. NWRCC states that it hosts one of the few adult jail GED testing sites in Minnesota.

Facility standards also come through state oversight. Minnesota Rules Chapter 2911 sets minimum jail standards, and the Minnesota Department of Corrections publishes adult facility inspection reports.
